PowerGreen: D4P President takes part in the expert discussion on green digital transition

The ICT sector is a key driver towards a climate-neutral economy and sustainable development. Organized with the support of the Enterprise Europe Network and the Central European Initiative, the PowerGreen: digitalization and technology transfer as drivers to low-carbon future conference gathered SMEs, large businesses, universities and research centers, and policymakers from Western Balkans and beyond to discuss the impact of greener digital technologies on urban ecosystems.

On November 2, 2021, Digital for Planet President Dr. Monique Calisti spoke at the PowerGreen Expert Discussion “Green and digital transition: challenges and opportunities”, which brought together multiple perspectives, from public authorities to academia and businesses. Dr. Calisti presented the benefits of applying technologies to advance the twin green digital transition, such as eco-friendly Cloud-Edge-IoT Computing. A sustainable application of this technology can improve a smarter use of private and public resources, leading to considerable energy savings and carbon footprint reduction. Ultimately, Cloud-Edge-IoT Computing will bring data and value closer to end-users and citizens.

Dr. Calisti, together with the panelists of the session, Ana Karanfilova Maznevska from the North Macedonian Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning, Marija Raspopovic from the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro, and Daniela Mladenovska from the Faculty for Technical Sciences at Mother Teresa University in Skopje, highlighted the urgency to act now and called for an inclusive transition.
